Yakutsk State Academic Drama Theater named after PA Oiunsky - the pride and vivid exponent of national origin in the art of Yakutia. Due to the promotion of amateur theater in the Sakha Republic created the preconditions for the establishment of the national theater. In 1925 it was decided to set up at the National Theater Yakut national troupe. History Academic Theater began in October 1925 with the staging of a comedy "evil spirit" N. Neustroeva.
In 1926, at the request of the national committee of the health and education of the Yakut Republic Council of People's Commissars created YASSR Yakut National Theatre. Supervised theater poet and playwright Sofronov-Alampa. The repertoire of the time included such performances as: "Those years" (A. Kyunde), "Game of Life" (Sofronov), "Red Shaman" and "Bolshevik Basil" (P. Oiunsky), as well as some translations Yakut language plays "Zakharov death" (A.Neverov), "The Lower Depths" (Gorky) and "Red Eaglet" (M. Zadonsk). Improving the professional skills of the Yakut actors performed in the theater workshop, which led the Russian theater director Ivan Saprygin, as well as in the studio, which was organized by the well-known theater director A. Glebov.
In 1934 the theater was named after a public figure and founder of Soviet literature in Yakutia PA Oiunsky. In 1942 the theater received the status of Music and Drama. From 1961 to 1983 the chief director of the Yakut Drama worked F. Potapov. They were delivered to many interesting productions that entered the main repertoire of those years. In 1971, the musical and dramatic theater troupe has been divided into two separate collective - Yakutsk State Drama Theater named after PA Oiunsky and Yakut musical theater.
The huge success of the theater over the past two decades is directly related to the name of his A. Borisov. In 1983 he became the director of the theater, and in 1990 its artistic director. It was then that a new stage in the history of the Yakut Drama. In 1986 Borisov, together with the art director G. Sotnikov, playing the main roles E. Stepanov, S. Fedotov, D.
