Dominican Church of the Holy. Jacek - church, located in the center of Warsaw. In 1603, the Dominicans decided to erect a church in Warsaw. Construction of the church in the Baroque style took many years: a wooden chapel and bell tower were built in 1638, and required many more decorating. The church was completed in the early Baroque style with elements of the Renaissance. The monastery buildings were completed later in 1650.

In 1655, the church was looted and burned by the Swedes. Bishop Wojciech Tolibovski, who at that time was the bishop of Poznan, the restored church was consecrated in 1661. A year later there was the bell tower of the church, and in 1690 created one of the most important parts - the Chapel of St. Dominic, which was designed by famous architect Tilman Gamerski Baroque. Before the second coming of the Swedish army during the Great Northern War in 1702, the monks managed to evacuate all the valuables from the church.

The greatest flowering of the church took place in the 18th century. In this period was a unique collection of books, which, unfortunately, was destroyed. In 1864 the Dominican Order was abolished, and the church was handed over to diocesan priests. After a few years in the monastery opened an orphanage for boys boarding school.

During World War II, the monastery housed a German field hospital, so during the bombing of the monastery was completely bombed and turned into ruins.

After the war, the restoration of the church, which lasted until 1959. Much has failed to recover, a huge part of past splendor appeared hopelessly lost. However, there are surviving values, among them - the baroque chapel Kotovskaya created in the late 17th century. The underground crypt miracle preserved sarcophagi couple Kotovsky - the founders of the church.
