Volgograd Railway Station Square is decorated with two-story red brick building, which is a memorial and historical museum.

The building is an architectural monument of the old Tsaritsyn, it was built in (1897 - 1903 years), and belonged to a family of merchants Repnikova. The mansion was used for receiving distinguished guests (bishops, governors and so forth.), Coming to the city. After the Revolution, the building has moved the headquarters of the Council of Defense Tsaritsyn, reorganized later in Tsaritsyno provincial military commissariat. In January 1937 in a beautiful building enters the museum located there ever since. The uniqueness of the house consists of two fronts, which is considered a rarity in the architecture of the time. House with massive vaulted cellar perfectly preserved after two experienced warrior (Civil and Great Patriotic War).

Today, in an old mansion in the five main halls of the memorial and historical museum is a unique exhibition dedicated to the events of the Civil War. In 1937, at the Museum of Defense of Tsaritsyn (the first name of the museum) in the short term it was collected valuable historical materials on the Civil War and the battles for the city (1918-1920). Remaining after the evacuation during World War II exhibits constitute nowadays the main fund of the museum.

In Volgograd Memorial and Historical Museum contains unique collection of firearms and bladed weapons of Russian and foreign production time of the First World and the Civil War, as well as personal belongings of the participants and organizers of Defense Tsaritsyn. As a result of research the opportunity to present rare photographs and documents of the leaders of the White movement in the south of Russia and personal correspondence leaders: Denikin, L.G.Kornilova and others. The greatest interest among the visitors to the museum is a model trains, one of which carried a life-size, and machine-gun tachanka Red Army.

Next to the museum is a bust of Don Cossack KI Nedorubova (author of the sculpture - Yu.F.Yushin).
