After the visit of Patriarch of Moscow Alexis II with the participants of the Battle of Stalingrad Mamayev Hill in June 1993 the idea of ​​construction of the temple on a memorial ground. Seats allocated under the temple, located next to the mass grave of several thousand soldiers, two hundred meters from the monument "Motherland."

Bookmark the temple was started the ninth of May 2002, after the annual (since 1997) godfather progress with the icon of the Mother of God. Funds for the construction of the temple came exclusively from donations of the population and in 2004, on the Protection of the day, the main dome was installed. In 2005, the ninth of May the church was consecrated and opened to the public.

In 2006, the Cathedral of All Saints received a unique gift in the form of three icons of handmade Astrakhan masters produced by old technology. The interior of the church is decorated with gold chandeliers and iconostasis, written by Lithuanian painter-artist Vladimir Saveliev.

The white-stone temple has a height of 38 meters and can be seen in almost any area of ​​Volgograd. Helmet dome of titanium alloy, ordered the Urals symbolize the warriors guarding the Russian land, as if complementing the memorial complex "To Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad", introducing a particle of the Orthodox faith in the main height of Russia.

Next to the temple is planned to build two bell towers, one of which is the majestic "The Bell of Peace." In the meantime, on Mamayev Kurgan spreads ringing seven bells, cast in Voronezh, located next to the temple.
