Repninskaya Orthodox chapel was built in the outskirts of Vilnius Zakrete in 1797. In the 18th century people were buried here who died of epidemic diseases. Here he was buried the wife of Field Marshal Prince NV Repnin, the first governor-general of Vilnius, Princess Natalia Repnina, nee Kurakin. The chapel was erected in her memory, in place of her burial.

The building was built in the neoclassical style, under the direction and by the architects Pietro Rossi and Carl Shildhauza. It is for certain, it is not known whether the project was a chapel of their joint creation, and its author is the only one of them, namely Carl Shildhauz who later engaged in a project of restoration of the chapel.

In 1809 the chapel was restored. Around it it was built five-foot fence. Prince Repnin commanded 2,500 rubles Holy Spirit Monastery, in charge of the chapel. The money was intended to maintain the temple and to perform a memorial service for the deceased members of the genus Repnin. For the decoration of the chapel was brought Smuglevich Francis, the famous painter, the founder of the Lithuanian school of painting. He is known for his watercolor series 1785 - "Architectural types of Vilnius" and wonderful frescoes of biblical scenes, which to this day adorn the interiors and ceilings in the library of the University of Vilnius. Unfortunately, the icon of the Resurrection of Christ, which he wrote for the chapel, was stolen in 1812 during the French occupation.

In 1817 the chapel was newly renovated. In 1847 the chapel was raised iron cross, weighing 1 pud cast specifically for this purpose. In the early 20th century, in order to reduce the pressure on the chapel and, at the same time, improve the acoustics in the dome of the chapel were mounted four sound hole.

After World War cemetery near the chapel formed. He was buried in Russian, Hungarian, German, Austrian, Turkish, and Polish soldiers. After World War II the cemetery near the chapel appeared and Jewish graves. All these burials in the cemetery chapel of Repninskoy city park Vingis continue to be kept in a proper manner.

The chapel is a stone structure made in the neoclassical style. It is square in plan structure with a gable, symmetrical, tile roof, which hoisted delicate four-cross. Facades in the west and east are decorated with triangular pediments, and painted white semi-columns that mimic the Tuscan porticos. The walls are plastered and painted in pastel, peach color. The corners of southern and northern facades are decorated with paired pilasters.

The front door of the chapel is framed by a rectangular opening with white, like the column border. On both sides of the doors built arched windows, with a white border. The interior of the chapel is modest, designed in the same style and design in general. In the center of the chapel is a crypt in the shape of a coffin with ashes of Princess Repnina. On the right side from the entrance of the tomb, a cast-iron stove which indicates that there was buried Colonel Pavel Gavrilovich Bibikov, who died heroically in 1812 in the battle for Vilna. Opposite the entrance, on the far wall of the chapel set the icon of the Savior.

The chapel, as befits this type of facilities, located in a quiet place. Around the chapel is a park with large, old trees. It seems that the chapel guards the peace and privacy of all the souls who have found the last resting place beside her.

Historic Monument "Repninskaya chapel" protected by the state. At the moment, access to the chapel is closed.
