Bardonecchia - a small town on the territory of the Italian ski resort of Val di Susa, whose name probably derives from the word "Bardi" - as in ancient times was called the tribes inhabiting these lands. The town lies on the westernmost tip of Italy, on the border with France, in the center of the four major valleys - Rho, Strutt, Freyus and Etiake. Around soar to the sky mountain ranges, reaching a height of 3000 meters. Due to its geographical location, Bardonecchia has been recognized as a ski resort - is perfectly developed infrastructure, a variety of paved trails and modern lifts are working.

Not far from Bardonecchia is an artificial lake Rokemolles into which flow numerous creeks and streams, including a tributary of the Dora Riparia, the current near the town. According to historians, in the ancient site of the modern city might be located lake, which in the 10th century drained the Saracens. In general, the area was once inhabited by tribes of the Celts, and in later documents mention the possession of the abbey Novaleza. After the expulsion of the Saracens at the end of the first millennium, became the property of Bardonecchia Turin and became a bone of contention between the Count of Savoy and Albonskimi - the latest in the 12th century, won and became full owners of the territory.
