In the picturesque countryside, in the north of India, in the state of Uttarakhand, at the foot of Nanda Devi, the eponymous mountain park, which is the average height of 3500 meters above sea level and is one of the most beautiful places of this country. It was created in 1982 and its area is about 630kv km.

Together with the adjacent beautiful valley flowers, the park received the status of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve and in 1988 was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the park there are also glaciers, which are surrounded on all sides by mountains and occupy a large part of it.

In general, the park may be divided into two parts: internal and external, which are surrounded by a large wall. The outer part of Nanda Devi occupies the western side of the park, while the rest of the territory (about 2/3) refers to the inside. A kind of boundary between them is the Rishi Ganga river, which flows across the reserve.

National Park has a rich and varied fauna. In particular there are found and rare animals such as the blue sheep, found only in the Himalayas, and snow leopards.

One of the main attractions of the park is Lake Skeleton, or whatever it is called Roopkund. It received its name due to the fact that its coast was discovered a large number of human skeletons, a total of about five hundred skeletons of animals, as well as household utensils. According to one of the most reliable version, the cause of death of people become very large hail.
