One of the most revered Hindu temples of India where God is worshiped Shiva, Kedarnath temple is considered to be, or as it is called Kedarnath Mandir. It is located in the Himalayas near the river Mandakini, in the holy city Kedarnath, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, right on the Indian-Chinese border. The place where the temple is built, is located at an altitude of 3584 meters above sea level and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Kedarnath Mandir is very popular with tourists and pilgrims.

It is believed that the temple was built around the VIII century, during the reign of Jagat Guru Adi Shankaracharya. People believe that it existed even during the great Mahabharata war. It is small compared to other Indian religious buildings of this type. It has two main rooms, one of which is the main shrine of Kedarnath Mandir. It is located a stone carved in the shape of a cone, which is considered the seat of the divine essence of Shiva - Linga. In another room are the statues of Lord Krishna, Pancha Pandavas and Virabhadra - one of the most loyal "guards" of Shiva. At the entrance to the temple sits Nandi - stone statue of Shiva's sacred bull. Inside, the walls and ceilings of the building are decorated with images of animals, people, deities, mythological characters.

Temple, unfortunately, is open to visitors only about six months a year, from the end of April to the last full moon of autumn, the so-called Kartik Purnima, due to severe weather conditions. In winter, all the statues of idols, known as the Deity, is transferred to another sacred place state - Ukhimath.
