Badrinath temple complex, which is sometimes referred to Badrinarayan, located on the territory of the mountain town of Badrinath, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. He is considered one of the holiest Hindu places built in honor of Lord Vishnu, and is mentioned in the ancient Vedic religious texts.

The Badrinath temple is a little "murti" statues of idols, each of which is considered to be a kind of incarnation of the deity. The most significant of these is the meter statue of Vishnu, depicted in the form of Badrinarayan. It is made of the so-called stone saligram (awl or force), which is extracted from the bottom of the sacred river Kali Gandaki, colored black. The statue depicts Vishnu sitting in the posture of meditation. It is believed that this statue is not man-made, and there alone, at the request of Vishnu.

The temple has a height of about 15 meters, and its top is crowned with a small dome covered with gold leaf, and the front part of the building is carved in stone. By the entry made in the form of a large arch, is a long and wide staircase. The windows are made in the form of high arches. Overall, the facade is more reminiscent of the Buddhist Vihara, ie the temple - with a huge number of small, brightly colored details. Also, the walls and columns are decorated with elegant carvings mandapa and covered with bright paint. Mandapa is a kind of a porch, a small lounge-pavilion, where all sorts of rituals performed, and which is located outside the main building.

Due to the harsh weather conditions in that part of the Himalayas, where the temple is located, it is open to the public only six months of the year - from late April to early November.
