First City Theater appeared in the town of Usti nad Labem fairly late: at the beginning of the XX century .  Prior to this presentation was given numerous theater troupes, wandering from town to town in search of work .  In 1908, the city funded the construction of a building intended for performances and permanent work team .  About a year a multi-storey house of white stone in the Neo-Baroque style was built .  The project for the theater designed by the architect Alexander Graf .  Before World War I in a theater set only dramas and operas .  Closed for the period of hostilities, this place once again began its work in 1919 .  This mansion some incredible miracle, survived the bombing of 1945 and was soon able to take back the audience favorite .  His repertoire has changed significantly: Now the theater staged not only the drama and opera, and operetta, and musicals and ballets .  There are also often held concerts visiting musicians .

In 1967 he took a significant alteration of the theater, which touched not only the auditorium, designed for 878 people, but the lobby, which was decorated with paintings by contemporary Czech painters, and technical facilities. The theater was completely replaced and lighting equipment installed more modern ventilation system.

Its modern name "North Bohemian Theatre of Opera and Ballet" institution received in 2004. At the moment, there are two staff - a ballet troupe and opera singers.
