Museum of Fine Arts State Tunisia Dar Ben Abdallah is in the palace, which was built in 1796 and decorated with paintings on wooden panels, colorful ceramic and marble tiles.
Previously, it was the home of one of the wealthiest residents. But in 1941 the Tunisian government purchased the mansion and placed it "Office of Arts." Some time later - in 1978, the palace was opened at the Art Museum.
Halls of the museum, where exhibitions are on the ground and partially on the second floor of the palace around a courtyard, which is closed from prying eyes by high walls, because once it was the territory of the harem, where the owner's wife walked palace. In order to go into the yard, you need to go through a tortuous and meandering narrow corridor.
In the museum you can learn about traditional arts and customs of the inhabitants of the city of Tunis. It recreated the life of people XVIII-XIX centuries.
