Great Mosque or Mosque of Olives - the largest and oldest mosque (built in 732) in the capital and the second in Tunis after kayruanskoy. There is an ancient legend which tells that, in the place where now stands the mosque, once grew marvelous olive tree, and before that was the Roman Forum. The mosque was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded.

For the ritual ablutions in the mosque is only rainwater, which is collected in special tanks. Noteworthy is a beautiful dome of a mosque.
