Tula circus is one of the oldest, located on the territory of the Russian Federation. Until such time as the formation was a circus in Tula, there were several areas in which there were performances of jugglers, clowns and acrobats. Earlier in Kiev street is a building in which for several years were talented brothers Truzzi team which toured throughout Europe. In 1909, Circus Truzzi broke up a year later one of the members of the troupe bought the building from one of the brothers - from that moment in the building of the circus arts flourished.

The city was another circus that was located on the street Ambassadors (later - Soviet Street) and who later became a famous Tula circus. At the time, the building had a rounded shape and only one floor. Its dome stood on the six pillars built of wood. Total room was 860 seats, but could accommodate more people. The circus was not even the usual hangers, so the audience had to keep things on hand. For the purposes of circus rented a room in which artists can fully prepare for the upcoming performances.

Before the Great Patriotic War Tula circus actively functioning, while there worked famous animal trainer Vladimir Durov and Menaker Alexander and Maria Mironova. Director at the time was Alexander Walter, who knew how to make a presentation exciting and fun. Here there was a tradition in between performances on stage to produce "red" clown whose face was painted white and pink colors. Usually in the second act on stage is more complex numbers that were called attractions. The skill shown handlers and tigers, lions, bears, panthers. Most were magicians. Each presentation was followed by loud applause. In Tula it attracts a lot of people in order to face the agility and strength of professional wrestlers. As soon as the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, the director of the circus he was expelled because he was a German national. Circus troupe has performed in front of the Red Army, but the director was able to return to their activities only after many years.

In December 1949, the circus building was covered by a terrible fire; Fire broke out so much that the smoke from it was visible even on the outskirts of the city - the building and could not be saved. The fire died and the animals.

A year later, nearly all the work was completed by the end of the assembly approached the scene. It is important to note that in this circus was used special screw lift, I have never used that allowed to carry out even the numbers on the water. The dome of the building was made of reinforced concrete; the circus was the largest in the USSR. When the circus was made by an automatic fire alarm system, which involves the installation of two hundred sensor connected to the extinguishing devices. Before it was completed, a new director was appointed Dmitry I. Kalmykov, who distinguished himself as a courageous and visionary leader. In the fall of 1963, the circus was delivered the first presentation.
