"Central Balkan" - it is a national park located in the heart of Bulgaria, namely in the central and the highest part of the mountain range of Stara Planina, the locals usually call it the Balkans. In this area it is under the protection of a rare wealth of forest landscapes, animals and vegetation, as well as historical monuments of world importance.

The highest point of this national park is considered the top Botev (up to 2376 m), while the lowland is situated near the town of Karlovo (500 m above sea level).

The park covers about 72 000 ha, partially covering the territory of the five areas, the central city where Lovech, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Sofia. The National Park includes nine nature reserves such as "Boatin", "North Djendem", "Tsarichina", "Singing Rocks", "Goat wall", "Steneto", "South Djendem", "Sokolna" and "Old River ". Eight of these reserves (other than "Goat wall"), himself Park "Central Balkan" are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site Nature. A territory "Boatin", "Tsarichina", "Djendema" and "Steneto" recognized biosphere reserves. "Central Balkan" in 2003 became a member of the European Foundation for PAN Parks, and in 2004 was awarded the certificate of the network, as received a high score for the preservation of natural resources and care for them.

Visitors to the park especially love to walk in the "North" and "South Jenda", "singing rocks" and is very popular waterfall named "Paradise Praskalo" (which means "heavenly spray").

This national park is struggling to maintain surprises with its diversity of vegetation. There are about 2340 species and subspecies of flora. Of these, 1 900 species and subspecies are higher plants and 15 species of fern family.

Central part of Stara Planina is one of the nicest places for hiking in the country. To attract tourists, there are special places for rest and photographing scenic views and attractions. In addition, the routes are designed for equestrian tourism, biking, observing the feathered, flora and fauna, as well as photo-safari routes.
