Tromso University Museum includes the Museum of the City of Tromso, Polar Museum and the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden. The design of the building consists of geometric shapes: rectangular tower with a pyramidal roof, rotunda with a conical roof, with two rectangular entrance porch, large spaces between the windows - all this gives the museum a monumental appearance.
Polar Museum tells the story of the polar navigators and explorers of the Arctic, hunting seals, whales, polar bears and a Russian winter. The museum was opened in 1978, the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of the last expedition Roald Amundsen in the search for the missing Umberto Nobile and the airship "Italia".
Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden - is the world's northernmost botanical garden, opened in 1994. It collected a huge number of alpine plants, striking in its beauty and diversity.
