Tower-Dovecote - remains of the city walls of the Old City in Torun. Dovecote Tower, was built in the fourteenth century. The rectangular defensive tower had impressive dimensions: 11 x 5 2, 8 meters. The brick building with a hipped roof and dormers five is the highest part of the preserved town fortifications. Dovecote is located between the monastery gates, and the gates of the Mariners.

Facade of the tower was once richly decorated with pointed arches, delicate plaster ornaments and paintings. Currently, most of the decor has been lost.

In the nineteenth century the tower lost its defensive function, after which it was converted into a residential house. His current title Tower owes the nineteenth century. While in the southern and eastern fronts were set special traps for pigeons. Pigeon used the Prussian authorities for quick interaction with the fortress.

Currently, the Old Town is the main tourist attraction in Torun. Of the eight city gates, built in the fourteenth century, it has survived three: Bridge Gate Monastery and the Mariners.
