The museum was founded by Elizabeth gingerbread Olzevskoy in 2006 in the Polish city of Torun. The museum is housed in a historic building in the heart of the city.
Torun is famous for its cakes for several centuries, so the idea of creating such a museum was quite natural. The museum exhibition is interactive - Visitors take an active part in making the dough, mixing honey, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom. All guests have their own dough under the supervision of experienced craftsmen and create your own unique cake. Keepers of the museum tell visitors about the history of gingerbread, share the secrets of ancient traditional recipes. Also here you can see recreations of the furnace of the sixteenth century and learn about all the features baking.
Gingerbread Museum won in several competitions of honor. In 2008, he won the contest sponsored by the Polish Tourism Organization and received the certificate of "Tourist Product of 2008". In 2012, National Geographic Traveler magazine named the museum one of the new 7 wonders of Poland.
Studying the history of Toruń and culinary traditions bring joy and fun for visitors of all ages, and kids and adults alike.
