The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in their appearance reminiscent of a fairytale castle: its facade is decorated with scalloped gable, and the walls are made of white stone. This structure gives the Magic and turrets, was built in the Gothic style and like piercing the clouds.
The temple is adjacent to the local palace, whose history dates back to the XII century, and is located right on Castle Square. It was built simultaneously with the reconstruction of the castle, which took place in the XVI century. Accordingly, the person to whom the castle owes its modern appearance, and is considered the founder of the castle church. His name - Wolf Vřesovice. He was a Protestant, as well as his guests, who sometimes came to Teplice. To worship and the church was built, it turned into a castle church. Blocks that built the walls of the church, were once part of the ancient basilica of St. John the Baptist. It was part of the abbey, which served as the basis for the construction of the local castle. Therefore, the new church was consecrated in the name of St. John the Baptist.
In 1799 the church was rebuilt in the Gothic style. Its interior has been partly renovated. From an initial situation kept some marble altars 1420 and 1440 years of creation, which is now converted into tombstones, and a bell dated 1477 year. During a recent reconstruction of the church were discovered frescoes.
In our time in the church committed Orthodox services. The first such service in the temple was carried out at the end of the XIX century.
