Secrets of the underwater world has always attracted people. No wonder then that more and more often on all continents and in different countries began to open more new aquariums (aquariums) - unique underwater museum, where the exhibits on display live inhabitants of rivers, ponds, lakes, seas and oceans.

Aquarium of St. Petersburg - a unique project for Russia, implemented by Finnish architect Hannu Laitila, one of the components of the trade and entertainment complex "Planet Neptune". Oceanarium was inaugurated April 27, 2006. Since then, his visitors were more than two million people as of Petersburgers and guests coming from different cities of Russia and abroad.

The exposition of the Oceanarium consists of seven sections, formed depending on the region data presented in these exhibits: "North-West Russia", "Rocky Coast", "coral reef", "rainforest", "main tank", "Amazon Basin" "tidal zone". Currently, they contain about five thousand specimens of fish and aquatic invertebrates, belonging to 150 different species.

Total area of ​​the Oceanarium, housed in three levels, is more than five thousand square meters. On it are 32 tank total volume of more than half a million liters of water. The smallest can hold 300 liters. To fill the largest aquarium you need 750,000 liters of water. And, of course, he - the most interesting object underwater museum, because through it paved 35-meter transparent tunnel, through which visitors can navigate the moving walkway. The walls of the tunnel are made of acrylic glass thickness of 8 centimeters, so you can not be afraid of shark jaws, which may be very close to you.
