The exact date of the founding of the church is not known. According to local legend, one night one of the locals noticed a mysterious glow of the cliff top, but did not attach special significance. In his dream he saw a woman who told him to climb along with the other inhabitants of the island to the rock and find the icon. To reach the summit, people had to cut through the stage directly into the rock. The icon was indeed found and taken to a nearby church. The next day, a mysterious relic was back on top of the cliff. Then it was decided to build a church.
