Kiev regiment hussars monument - one of the attractions of Sevastopol. Kiev hussar regiment participated in the defense of Sevastopol in 1854-1855. in Balaklava, Inkerman and Alma battles. In February 1932 a special commission has decided to demolish the monument "how unimportant" (according to other sources, it was destroyed during the Great War oOtechestvennoy). The excavations carried out in 2002, archaeologists discovered a part of the foundation, pieces of iron eagle and blocks. The monument was restored in September 2004, the 150th anniversary of the defense of Sevastopol in the Crimean War. The author of the restoration project was made by Kiev architect Yu Lissitzky. The funds allocated for the reconstruction of the Kyiv city council.

The new monument was erected not in its original location - on a hill, which housed one of the British redoubts, which in 1854-1856 was covered Balaklava, and slightly below, about 75 meters from the road Sevastopol - Yalta. Restoration of the monument as close to the original.

The obelisk of gray granite was installed on a small artificial hill, on a two-stage basis.
