The history of musical theater in Saransk began in September 1935 the first operetta "The Beggar Student" K.Millёkera and since then has become an integral and operetta favorite genre of theater. In 1937, the reorganized theater in Opera and Ballet Theater, in 1959 he became musical and dramatic theater, and in 1969 building on the street for a long time, the Soviet united the two troupes: Theatre of Russian Drama Theatre of the Republic of Mordovia and the musical comedy.

Since the foundation of the theater becomes a favorite consummate talent, the owner of a beautiful voice and a rich performance technique - Hilarion Maksimovic Yaushev. In 1994, the State Musical Theatre of the Republic of Mordovia was named People's Artist of Mordovia and Honored Artist of the RSFSR IM Yausheva.

By the anniversary season in 2011, State Music Theatre. THEM. Yausheva received a magnificent gift, and moved to a new modern building with a large hall with 714 seats and technical equipment of the stage, an area of ​​400 sq.m.

Today the State Music Theatre. THEM. Yausheva puts operetta, opera, ballet and musical performances, festivals regularly and gladly takes on the big stage of famous artists.
