"Phantasialand" - is one of the largest amusement parks in Latin America, an area of 8 hectares, located in the center of Santiago. It was opened in 1978 in a green park of O'Higgins. The park entrance is located opposite the Arena Santiago (Movistar Arena).
The park "Phantasialand" is also known for its modern attractions, as was the first theme park in South America with a roller coaster Galaxy with a turn of 360 degrees, and is the sole South American hill "Boomerang".
Amusement park "Phantasialand" - is the embodiment of the idea of Gerardo Arteaga, who in the late 70's decided to create a space of fun and entertainment in the center of the capital of Chile. In 1977, the mayor of Santiago, Patricio Mekis signed a project to create a "Chilean Disneyland" in O'Higgins Park of the land lease for 50 years with the mandatory condition of preservation of all kinds of trees in the park.
Since the beginning of 1978 an amusement park was launched with eight classic attractions: carousels "Octopus" roller coaster "Galaxy" room of horrors "Sinister house", children's carousel, horse typewriters "Ford T». Over time, we added a fabulous and extreme rides such as Xtreme Fall, Top Spin, Raptor and slide "Boomerang".
In late 2007, the park opened a new attraction "Tsunami", which replaced the classic "Splash". This enhanced version of "Splash" consists of a large single fall, which creates a big wave and offers family-friendly entertainment. Also opened new attractions in the children's area of the park "Mini Scooters», Villa Mágica, «Dragon", "Ducklings" and many others.
The park "Phantasialand" in addition to the opening of new attractions for each season, also conducts upgrading and refurbishment of its previously completed projects: the entrance to O'Higgins Park now has a new giant colorful logo of the park, reconstructed in the area of 3D Villa Magica and in the zone Pirate Revenge which now include family attraction "Pirates" and a pirate ship restaurant, attracting more and more visitors to this part of the park.
In the summer of 2013 the park "Phantasialand" was first awarded by the IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions).
Amusement park "Phantasialand" is considered a safe park, because throughout its history was only two incidents, one of which has been associated with health problems from the visitor and ended tragically. The second incident occurred due to a malfunction of the attraction, but without tragic consequences. As a result, the Ministry of Health ordered the closure of the attraction and introduced a more rigid security checks all the other attractions of the park.
