Mittersill - Austrian resort town in the province of Salzburg, is located in a part of the district of Zell am See. Mittersill is located at an altitude of 790 meters above sea level, at the intersection of major transport routes through the valley of the Salzach. Although such an arrangement, Mittersill has managed to retain its charm as a small mountain town.

In 1939, at Mittersill it started grandiose construction cable car over a mountain range, which was supposed to be a transporter for various goods and commodities. There were built two legs, each 280 meters high, is one - made of steel, and the other - from the tree (the tallest structure in wood ever created). However, because of the outbreak of the Second World War, the construction of the cable car was broken, both supports were dismantled in 1950.

On August 8, 2008 Mittersill received city rights.

Once in Mittersill towered castle. It was built in the 12th century, but was reconstructed several times since been destroyed during the numerous fires and various wars. Now it houses the four-star hotel and restaurant. Church of St. Leonard, built in the 13th century in the Gothic style, later it was rebuilt and decorated in the rococo style of the department. From the old decor preserved stone statue of St. Leonard's 15th century. Fancy Church of St. Anne was built in the 18th century in the style of a Tyrolean Rococo. In the chapel of St. Nicholas survived a late polyptych.

Now in the city there are two large industrial enterprises, which provide employment to the population. Tourist business is also actively developed in the region, mainly due to the skiers and snowboarders who come here in the winter.
