Monastery and Church of the Holy Cross - a complex of buildings in the center of Rzeszow. Now in a former convent located museum and high school. Church of St. Cross is active and has a second name "The Church of the student" - because of the proximity of educational institutions.

The church was built in 1649 by John Kanzheroy mason and architect John Falconi late Renaissance. Facade of the late Baroque was completed when Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski 1707. The facade was made Tilman Gamerenom and made significant changes to the image of the church. The school, built at the monastery quickly gained a reputation as a strong academic institution among the local gentry. In addition to the elementary school and high school, there was a seminar for young religious teachers and professional musicians. Initially, the school was open to all children, but because of the manifesto published by Jerzy Lubomirski, was available only for the nobility.

In 1772, after the division of the Polish lands, Rzeszów became part of the Habsburg Empire. These changes have led to a series of unpleasant reforms and tumors as a result of which in 1786 the monastery was dissolved, the school continued to operate. In 1834-1835, the school was rebuilt in 1872 two wings were added. The training program was added to the German language.

In the late 19th century, the church was rebuilt under the direction of Father Stanislaus Grunikego, who later became the pastor of Farnham.

After Poland regained independence in 1918, thanks to patrons was repaired, upgraded interiors, bought body.

During the Second World War, the church building housed the German troops. During the bombing of the church was partially destroyed, particularly hard hit the south tower and roof. Reconstruction was carried out in the 50s. In the postwar years, he reopened the school was opened museum.
