Church of St. George the Great Martyr is an Orthodox church in the city of Ruse. Earlier in her place was a wooden church burned during the Russian-Turkish war of 1806-1812. Catholic Archbishop Peter Bogdan Bakshi, who visited Rousse in 1640, noted that the city has two wooden church - most likely, the church of St. George and the Church of the Holy Trinity; archaeologist Felix Kanitz thought that the church of St. George's older.

Construction of a new stone building started later in 1841 and ended a year later. The solemn consecration took place January 30, 1843 Temple dug two meters into the ground and has a size of 32 by 14 meters. Inside there are three altars: Central - St. George North - St. Demetrius Basarbovski and south - St. Nicholas.

The iconostasis was created by Professor Ivan Travnik and icons - painter of Ruse AD Rodoykovym. In 1939, the temple was added to the chapel of St. Ivan Rilski.

Since 2002, May 6 - St. George's Day - a public holiday in the city of Ruse.
