Varnickiy Holy Trinity Monastery was founded in 1427 by the Rostov Archbishop Ephraim in the place where the parental home of St. Sergius of Radonezh. Abode is located on the north-western outskirts of Rostov the Great, in the village of Varnitsa. The monastery circle surrounded by a stone wall in the shape of a quadrangle, the corners of the fence stone towers rise pyramid-shaped tent.
The cathedral with three-tiered bell tower over the porch was built in 1771. Right chapel was consecrated in the name of Sergius and Nikon of Radonezh abbots; left - in the name of St. Athanasius and Cyril, the Patriarch of Alexandria. The walls and vaults of the temple were decorated with plaster cartouches with picturesque scenes. Each chapel has a carved gilded iconostasis with holy images. Many icons were in the temple were decorated with silver salaries and inserted into the carved gilt reliquaries, arranged the means of benefactors.
The church in honor of the Presentation of Mary was built in 1828 near the southern wall of the fence to the right of the Holy Gate. Temple had two chapels: the right - in the name of the Holy Prophet Elijah, the left - in the name of St. John the Evangelist.
By the second half of the XIX century the entire architectural ensemble of the monastery got its completion. In the northwest part of the monastery was built two small stone house: the abbot's quarters and communal cells. On the north side of the fence was located one-storey stone building of the refectory.
After the revolution, the monastery was closed and subjected to looting. Trinity Cathedral, bell tower, the cemetery and the walls of the monastery were destroyed. Vvedenskaya church rebuilt. In 1995 he returned to the monastery church and the revival of the monastery. It carried out the restoration and reconstruction work.
