Hradcany náměstí - a large area in front of the Prague Castle. There's always noisy, crowded, the people photographed the facades of the City, its gates, bars, and only some tourists pay attention to the other buildings in this area. One of these buildings - Martinic Palace. It is located on the north side of the square.

Palace looks very unusual, thanks to graffito on biblical themes, which cover its walls. Consider the image can be very long, guessing plots and decoding allegory.

The palace was built in the XVI century on the site of the house where lived the priests of the temple of St. Vitus. One of those houses belonged to Peter Parler - the person to whom we owe the construction of the main cathedral of Prague. Houses specifically destroyed, they were destroyed by a large fire. The ashes could be empty for a long time. After 10 years, after a fire in 1541 the land for the construction of the palace bought nobleman Ondrej Teyfl. He ordered the construction of the residence, but after a while decided to get rid of the protracted construction. The new owner is still unfinished palace became George Martinitse of Bourges. From the hometown of the new owner and the palace got its present name.

Thanks to the efforts of George Borzhita, the palace was completed in record time. Its decorated in a classic style and decorated with paintings, preserved to our days.

Another large-scale reconstruction was expecting a palace in the middle of XVII century. One of the descendants Martinitsa completely rebuilt the interior of the palace, having achieved what this building was seen as one of the most luxurious in Prague.

However, in XIX-XX palace was divided into rented apartments, some rooms were given a studio. Only in 1953, the Czech government has realized the riches disappear right under their noses. The building is upgraded, cleared the layers of dirt, and now it appears to tourists in all its splendor.
