Nature and Ecology Museum in Polotsk - one of the most popular tourist attractions. The original location of the museum - in a former pump house built in 1953 - is already attracting curious glances. The museum was opened on September 3, 2005.
The creators of the museum offered an original concept: Museum - a Tree of Life. Levels of exposure "strung" on the ladder, symbolizing the connection between all living things on the planet. As an epigraph to the museum are the words of Yuri Bondarev, "Environmental awareness - a staircase connecting to a single Union of Earth, Heaven and Man." Climbing the stairs, as if the visitor looks at the collection of great importance for Belarus: Belarus - our house - the nature of the biodiversity of Belarus; Dowry civilization - a difficult co-existence of nature and big cities; Protected areas - the story of how man tries to preserve nature in certain regions. The fourth level - the output under a clear sky. Observation platform from which to explore the city of Polotsk as a whole - an alloy of civilization and nature.
People living in cities with great pleasure and interest to visit the museum, which clearly shows the life of animals, insects, fish and plants in their native environment. The museum has a great educational value, explaining the younger generation how important and easy to keep wildlife and live with it in harmony. Perhaps it is the pagan concept of the Tree of Life explains the connection between man and nature, animate and inanimate, and his responsibility as a pre ancestors who have conveyed precious heritage and to our descendants that conserve natural wealth will pass.
