Sorokosvyatskaya church or temple Forty Martyrs of Sebaste, located at the mouth of the river Trubezh, on the shores of picturesque Lake Pleshcheeva in the fishing settlement. It was built on the donations of Moscow merchants Schelyaginyh in 1775, most likely at the site of the former wooden, known since the 1600s godov.Hram was closed in the late 1930s. Used as a workshop, supported by the procedure. In 1996 he returned to believers.
The place where the temple itself is very nice. A high church with elements of baroque turns it into an original and unforgettable. Probably the best view of the temple opens to the opposite shore Trubezh from the right embankment of the street.
Powerful quadrangular church is crowned with five domes. It is noteworthy that the small head is not located at the corners of the quadrangle, as usual, and in small pediments mounted on all four sides. This arrangement is commonly used in wooden architecture, not a stone.
The composition is a traditional church - three-part axis. The building presents lined up main volume with one large apse, refectory room and a bell tower. The church has a warm side chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin.
The decoration of the temple is peculiar and intricate. All three chains windows are decorated with its main quadrangle, not similar to each other trims.
The high bell tower, topped by a spire, was added in the XIX century. Its design is clearly different from the main volume. It is expressed in the rusticated walls of the lower tier, semi-columns and high arched doorway of the upper tiers.
On the right bank of the river opposite the church Trubezh Forty Martyrs of Sebaste before the arrival of Soviet power was Vvedensky temple, which stood on the first sort of couple.
