Church of Saint Dominique, located in the former suburb of Saint-Jacques, is different from most Parisian temples of its Roman-Byzantine architecture. The ancient form of the Church should not be misleading: it is no more and the century.

The territory of the parish of St. Dominic has a rich religious history. It was here that the famous XVII century abbess Maria Angelica Arnaud, Abbess of Port-Royal de Shan, founded the "daughter" monastery - Port Royal Paris. The monastery, a stronghold of Jansenism, at the beginning of the XVIII century was destroyed by royal decree, the Port-Royal in Paris revolution became a prison, and then the hospital. In the period of urban reform Haussmann building was demolished.
