On the street that connects the Green Gate and the central area of Pardubice, you can find unusual structure, more like a palace. This passage Ladislav Mahon, built in 1924-1925, respectively. Through the house you can go out Trzhidu World.
The place where the house was built, never empty. At the beginning of the XVI century there rose a prayer house, owned by the Czech brothers. In 1548, by order of the king, the land of the Order (and the house near the Green Gate) became the property of the Czech Crown. It was originally supposed to arrange a hospital here, but these noble intentions and plans were. Soon it becomes a private home again.
In just a few centuries, this house changed many owners. At first, they had a family of the local blacksmith. When the Swedes surrounded Pardubice, the home had to singe. Conflagration was purchased by Jan Hrdlicka, who rebuilt the house and re-created it at a cozy patio. In 1835 the house was damaged by fire again.
The long-suffering house sold many times until the beginning of XX century it was not a rich man bought two: Antonin Kratoshvil and Frantisek Vesely. They are just trying to find a place to build a super-modern apartment building. However, someone of them came up with the idea that more income will bring "a magnificent palace entrance," which will open shops. So the idea to build a passage. For this he was invited architect Ladislav Machon.
Facade of the five-storey building decorated with sculptures C. Dvorak depicting people working professions. Vintage lamps in the 60-ies of the last century, replaced by more modern models. For a long time it was thought that the original lights have been lost, but it turned out that they were stored in the vaults of passage.
