The unusual building with an outdoor terrace and a triangular pediment decorated with ornaments, like the oriental palace from some fairy tale. It is located near the city's main cemetery and attracts constant interest of tourists. In fact, it is not a local rich man's villa, and the local crematorium, built early last century in the fashion in those days, art-deco style.
Pardubice has long been needed in the crematorium, which is never tired of reminding members of the Society of Friends cremation, acting in the city. However, the public opposed the gloomy buildings built in the style of functionalism. Moreover, the new building was erected to fulfill the functions joyless. Only after the project developed with the latest trends in architecture and the intended use of postmodern elements in the structure of the object, local residents, critics and historians subdued appearance in their city crematorium.
The architect of this building was chosen Pavel Janak. This young and ambitious professional, well-versed in contemporary art, built the incredible beauty of the palace, which affects their appearance anyone who sees him for the first time. The building is decorated with stained-glass windows of the crematorium round shape, and on the arch portal adorned the inscription: "I live - and you will live."
In 1968 Pardubice crematorium noticed filmmakers. The director Juraj Herz filmed in his interior the film. Stoves, who were involved in the film, is not working. They are located in the lobby, are closed as a reminder of past surveys.
