The open air museum is located in the town of Vysocina Hlinsko. It has the second name, which is often used to refer to Skansen in the local press - Veselý Kopec. This is the name the terrain on which there is an ethnographic museum.

Exposition Ethnographic Museum is located in three branches. Highlands complex - is only one of them. The other two: the historic quarters of Bethlehem in Hlinsko and Svobodne Hamry village.

Skansen was founded in 1972, when different parts of the Iron Mountains and the Eastern regions of the Czech Republic here began to bring wooden houses dated XVIII-XIX centuries. To do this, they dismantled on the spot, gently moved in trucks, and then on the territory of the future architecture of the museum were collected. So that visitors can see Skansen original buildings, some of which are not only residential huts and barns, but also a windmill, a chapel, an inn. The museum has 30 log cabins, each of which you can enter to see the situation of the peasant houses of the past centuries. For greater clarity, with the huts of the villages were brought and household items, crafts, tools.

Every year on the territory of the ethnographic museum Vysocina are fairs and festivities to mark the celebration of the New Year, Easter and so on. The program usually includes horseback riding, notably food, performances, participate in a historical procession. Guests are greeted by chimney sweeps and trainers bears, stuffed and straw peasant gossips. Bored just do not have!

Since 2003, the only one in the Pardubice Region Skansen is protected by the Czech state.
