Foro Italico - Palermo one of the embankments, stretching from Cala to Via Giulia della Kalsa quarter .  From 1734 to 1860 it was called by the name Foro Borboniko ruled Sicily Bourbon, and after the unification of Italy in 1860 got its present name .  Before World War II, the sea came up to the modern streets .  Directly in years of conflict during the air raids on the city from both the Germans and the Americans, some of the port and the historic center of Palermo were destroyed .  After the war, most of the debris was SVEZA it here, so the sea retreated and embankment, respectively, expanded .  For many years this area remained abandoned and untended .  Then we stayed here traveling circuses, and for a time this place was Luna Park .  It was only in the late 1990s - early 2000s was a complete restoration of the area has turned into one of the most popular waterfront city . 

The decision on the transformation of an abandoned area in the promenade area was made on the eve of the UN Conference devoted to the fight against organized crime, which was held in Palermo in December 2000. At the inauguration of the quay, designed by architect Carmelo Bustinto, attended by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Today hiking the Foro Italico with its extensive "green zones" is about 40 thousand sq.m .: alleys, benches, ceramic sculptures, bicycle paths, night illumination and beautiful view - all this every day attracts hundreds wishing to relax and enjoy the sea.
