Tabon Caves are located in the province of Quezon in the southwestern part of the island of Palawan. The complex consists of 29 caves, of which only three are open for visits. In 1962, employees of the National Museum under the direction of Dr. Robert Fox during excavations discovered the skull of the so-called Tabonskogo person. Age finds - from 22 to 24 thousand years. Also found here are burial jars, pottery, jewelry made of jade and other stones, stone tools, animal bones and human remains, whose age exceeds 47 thousand years. It is the oldest human remains found in the Philippines.
In 1972, Cape Lipuun Tabon caves were declared a nature reserve. It also came in the island area of 138 hectares, which is connected to Palawan mangrove forest. Scientists believe that the past 50 thousand years ago, people lived here. And the age of the limestone caves themselves - about 25 million years.
