Quiet village of Galata is located in a picturesque valley surrounded by Solea Troodos Mountains, Nicosia District in a little more than 60 km to the southwest of the city. The village was built on the two banks of the river Klarios many centuries ago.

This place is one of the favorite resorts of tourists coming to Cyprus, and especially his love Cypriots themselves, as the temperature in the summer months there is not as high as in the rest of the island. In addition to the enchanting landscapes, the masses of greenery and fresh air in Galata there is a huge number of attractions that are worth paying attention to. There are six churches, including the Church of the Archangel Michael and St. Sozomenos, as well as the ancient temple of St. Paraskeva, famous for its marvelous frescos. In addition, some of these buildings included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the famous church of Panagia Podithou created in the XVI century.

Houses of local residents are not less interesting than the building of ancient times - they are a wonderful mix of styles and give the village a special charm. Their distinguishing feature is the abundance of details - carved wooden shutters, neat balconies and stairs, pattern, lined with multicolored tiles, graceful columns and beams, colorful conical roof. Also, you should visit the local museum of folk art, where you can see things that tell the story of Galatians: the work of local craftsmen, household items, books, clothes and much more.

Galata is also known as a place where they grow the best fruits and berries on the island - different varieties of apples, peaches, grapes, cherries, plums and so on.
