Naxos Town (also known as the Choir) is located on the west coast of the island of the same name, which is the largest island of the Cyclades. The city is located on a green hillside in the form of an amphitheater, descending to the sea. At its foot is the city port - the only major port on the island. The city is also a major trading center of the Aegean Sea and dates back to ancient times.

Picturesque Mediterranean town with narrow medieval streets and ancient buildings, plenty of sights of different historical eras and beautiful sandy beaches attract thousands of tourists from all over the world.

One of the most famous attractions of the city is the marble arch Portara (porting), dating back to 522 BC It is located on a small island of the Chamber, which is connected to the city's port causeway. Arch is the gateway to the temple of Apollo, which was never completed. On top of the hill stands the monumental Venetian fortress Castro. It was built in the 13th century BC Duke of Naxos Marco Sanudo a Venetian origin, and very well preserved to this day.

One should visit the Archaeological Museum of Naxos, which gathered a great collection of ancient artifacts and Byzantine Museum, located in an old mansion. The city also has many interesting churches of the Byzantine era. Not far from the harbor of Naxos during archaeological excavations were found the ruins of the Mycenaean city.

Naxos and its excellent tourist infrastructure is a paradise for tourists. Local taverns and restaurants are renowned for excellent traditional Greek cuisine, and for lovers of rich night life are a fine selection of discos and nightclubs.
