Shoynusa - a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea (Small Cyclades). It is located about 6 km south of Naxos between the islands Koufonisia and Irakleia. The island is only 8, 51 sq.km. Like the other islands of the Small Cyclades, Shoynusa been inhabited since prehistoric times.

Shoynusa Island with its picturesque hills and valleys, rugged coastline with lots of cozy coves and magnificent beaches is considered one of the most beautiful among the smaller Aegean islands. Despite the fact that in recent years is rapidly developing tourism industry, the island has managed to retain its own special flavor and continues to offer its guests an unusually relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and excessive concentrations of people, so characteristic of most modern resorts.

The island has only two settlements - the administrative center of the island Hora (Panagia) and Messaria village. This small traditional villages with typical Cycladic architecture. The main port of the island of Mersin is approximately 1, 2 km from Hora and is considered one of the best harbors in the Aegean Sea for small vessels.

Among the attractions of the island is worth mentioning the church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, the church of Panagia Akatis, windmills and a small but very interesting Ethnographic Museum, where you can see traditional costumes of these places, a variety of tools and ancient housewares. But among the natural beauty of the island are the most interesting cave Maniatis Fishers Cave, located near the harbor. However, to the attractions of the island can be attributed to the excellent beaches Shoynusy - Ttsiguri, Livadia, Psili Ammos, polyols, Fikio, Almyros and others.

On the island grow many species of endemic plants, and is one of the reasons that Shoynusa part of the European program Natura 2000. The island is also an important intermediate point during the seasonal migration of many birds, and no doubt will be of interest to fans of ornithology.
