Donousa - a picturesque Greek island in the Aegean Sea. It is the easternmost island of the Cyclades group Small. Donousa Island is located approximately 15 km east of Naxos and 25 km to the north of Amorgos. The island is only about 14 square kilometers

Information about Donousa stories have been preserved very little. Archaeologists believe that the island was inhabited in the early Bronze Age (heyday of Cycladic culture, 3rd millennium BC). Probably in 10-7 centuries BC the island flourished, as evidenced by the remains of a well-fortified settlements and burial found in the southeastern part of the island, dating from the Geometric period. During the Roman Empire, the island was a place of exile, and in the Middle Ages used by pirates as a refuge. During the reign of the Ottoman Empire in the region of the island was already inhabited.

Today, a tiny, but incredibly beautiful and almost untouched by mass tourism island of Donousa - a real paradise for lovers of peace and solitude, wanting to relax away from the bustle of the city. The island boasts many stunning beaches, among which deserve special attention Kedros beach, Stavros, Livadia, Fikio, Mesa Amos Kalotaritissa, Limni, and Vati Tripiti Limenaria.

The main town of the island - the port of Donousa (or Stavros). Here you will find some excellent tavernas where you can enjoy the excellent local cuisine, cafes, mini market, a bakery and a small selection of housing and one of the best beaches on the island.

Attractions Donousa is worth mentioning the church of the Holy Cross, the church of Panagia, the abandoned village Messaria, old windmills, the ruins of the geometrical settlement, the church of St. Sophia and Saint John, as well as two extraordinarily beautiful caves - Fokospilia and cave walls.
