The Regional Art Museum of the Murmansk region is located in the old building of the city of Murmansk, built of stone in 1927, in the historic center of the city, in the streets of the Comintern. Construction of the consumer society, transport (SST) was started in the spring of 1927 and completed by the autumn. Until 1927 street Comintern had a way located on both sides of the frames of logs. The building had three floors. On the first two floors of shops, and on the top floor - a dining room.

During World War II the building suffered transport consumer society, the glass dome was completely broken, which is its decoration. Over the years, he has not been reinstated. In 1987, building on the street Comintern TPO gradually began to turn into a future museum. According to the city executive council of people's deputies of Murmansk building was handed over to the full enjoyment of the Department of Culture executive committee. The building begin repair work, as well as the reconstruction of existing facilities for the needs of the exhibition hall.

In winter, December 19, 1989 was held the opening ceremony of the first in the city exhibition hall, which soon became the Murmansk Regional Art Museum. Then, his funds have been transferred to the work of drawing, painting, decorative arts and sculpture. To date, the museum collection has over seven thousand different items.

The permanent exhibition is called "domestic fine arts during the 18-20 centuries". It consists of several sections, one of which is entirely devoted to Russian art of 18-19 centuries. The picturesque collection is small. Particularly interesting picture Zankovsky Ilya Mikhail Klodt, Konstand Harlampy.

The collection of the Art Museum is a collection of graphics, which is the most numerous representative. In the museum you can see the hall of Leningrad, Moscow and regional charts. Department of painting, which is dedicated to artists from his native city, introduces the work of skilled artists of the Murmansk region. Here are the works of Vasily Baranov, Nikolai Morozov, Nikolai Kovalev, Anatoly Sergienko and many other talented people.
