In the city of Murmansk, in the street of Trade Unions is a monument dedicated to the builders, who gave their lives during World War II. Opening of the monument took place in October 1974, sponsored by the famous sculptor Deaf GA in collaboration with the architect Taxis FS

Monumental composition is a stylized DOT, which in some way is lined with dark-red granite .  On the left side there is a bas-relief of the monument, which depicts two soldiers, and on the opposite side of the edge engraved in memory of the fallen during the war builders .  At the top of the granite monument mounted three bayonet, which carry symbolic importance as an incredible unbending firmness of Russian people to Victory .  It was decided to erect a monument made of concrete on the basis of which the entire perimeter was lined with granite blocks .  Stone slabs, carpeted monument, have a slightly pinkish ebb and elegantly complemented by flower beds that every year in the summer daisies adorn the obelisk unpretentious .  Completing the ensemble is made in the form of a large granite benches .  General view of the monumental structure particularly well fit into a small cozy park .  Monument on almost all sides is framed by numerous shrubs and trees that became a kind of decorative ornament . 

Place for placing the monument was not chosen by chance .  According to the stories of veterans of the Great Patriotic War on this spot in 1941, there was a formation of volunteer corps - the famous workers of the trust under the name "Murman-rybstroy", as well as other sorts of construction of the city of Murmansk, which later went to the front .  The greatest number of these organizations have failed, desperately defending their homeland from the onslaught of the Nazis .  Thirty years later, in a small quiet park, on the famous street of Trade Unions was set a large granite stone with a short inscription, which tells about the upcoming installation of a commemorative monument .  Authors of the project - Mr. Deaf . A .  Taxis and F . FROM .  - Could not develop some kind of version of the monument, after which he was chosen as the most suitable for them, which was also approved by the company .  Some of the money needed for the erection of the monument, the city gathered themselves builders, most of them unpaid labor on the construction of the monument to the monumental military construction .

The opening ceremony of the obelisk was held October 12, 1974 - this day in Murmansk held celebrations devoted to the 30th anniversary of the complete defeat of fascist forces in the Russian Arctic. On this day, the streets of the city gathered an unprecedented number of Murmansk, in particular employees of different kinds of units "Glavmurmanskstroya." At the rally, he spoke among the assembled people made one of the builders of Murmansk - Hero of Socialist Labor - AY Safronov, who led a team of carpenters.
