Assumption Monastery Pustynsky or Male Pustynsky monastery in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin, located near the town Mstislavl. Until recently, you could only admire the ancient ruins, but now there is an active revival of the monastery by the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Orthodox Church.

This ancient monastery was founded in 1380 the son of Duke Algirdas, the ancestor of princes Mstislavsky Lugveniem. Legend has it that Lugven was rapidly losing his sight. One night, in a dream, it was the Virgin Mary, and said that he would find healing Oslyanka near the river (a tributary of the Sozh). After washing healing water, the prince once again saw the light. The first thing he had seen - God's miracle - the miracle of Our Lady of the desert. Further, the legend says that near the healing spring was the abode of the monks of the desert. To celebrate, Lugven monks built a large beautiful monastery and church.

In the XVI century raided trouble - on Mstislavsky land was at war. The monks of the monastery partially Pustynsky were killed, the others quickly left their native abode. In 1605, not a residential Monastery monks took baziliantsy, but they could not live long in the monastery. Only in the XIX century, the monastery began to revive.

In 1864 it was constructed Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. It was built directly above the source of miraculous healing, in a place where there was a miraculous icon of the Mother of God of the desert.

A white bell tower, 60 meters high was built in 1866. There was also reconstructed the temple of the Assumption and built numerous outbuildings and dwelling monks. There was a church school and peasant school. Poor students and orphans monks taught at his own expense.

In 1919, during the collectivization, clever monks Pustynki registered in the municipality, which gave them some time to conduct your former way of life, but in 1925, the monastery is still closed and the monks dispersed. During World War II, the monastery was blown up by German troops.

The revival of the monastery today began July 16, 2003. Now it is a functioning monastery.
