September 7 (August 26, old style) in 1812 near the village of Borodino took place on 12-hour battle, during which the French managed to capture the position of the Russian army in the center and on the left wing. The battle ended with the departure of the French army after the cessation of hostilities to their original positions. Russian army retreated, but kept fighting ability and soon drove Napoleon out of Russia. The Battle of Borodino was one of the bloodiest battles of the XIX century.

The main exhibition of the Museum-Reserve "Borodino field" created for the 190th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, housed in the battery Rajewski. Base exposure - authentic objects connected with the battle - the uniforms and weapons of the soldiers of both armies, flags, banners and awards, personal belongings of participants of the battle, documents and maps, the findings from the field of battle - the core fragments of grenades, grapeshot and lead bullets. It includes works of art by both participants and contemporaries events of the Patriotic War of 1812, and the artists of XIX - XX centuries. A complete picture of the decisive battle on August 26 appeared before the visitors through the show in a big hall of relics of the heroes of the battle, the four paintings to sketches FA Roubaud Borodino panorama, diorama "Battle of the flushes Bagration", the layout of the battlefield.

Instead of a hill, where once housed the battery Rajewski, a monument to the glory of the three arms, to protect this strengthening. At the base of the monument lie the remains of the commander Bagration.

On the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino field is set on the historic monument of 34, most of which are built on donations.
