Kolotsky Dormition Monastery was founded in the 1413 book. Andrei Dmitrievich Mozhaiskoye to mark events on the river. Kolocha miraculous icon of the Mother of God. In 1812, the monastery became an outpost of the Russian position on the eve of the Battle of Borodino. With the departure of Russian troops in the monastery is located the headquarters of Napoleon. After the battle of Borodino there was arranged a French hospital. Restoration work at the monastery was completed in 1839

After the Revolution of 1917 the monastery was abolished. The last of his brethren were shot by the Bolsheviks on suspicion of counter-revolutionary activities. Original Kolochskoy icon was lost in the 1970s. We now know a few lists in late October 1997, the monastery was opened as an independent. The monastery held construction and repair work, equipped with modern amenities area.

In the center of the monastery is the Cathedral of the Assumption, built in 1626 and reconstructed later in the Baroque style. Over the Holy Gate overlooks the square three-tiered bell tower, topped by a high spire. At the end of the XVIII century it was built by the abbot's cell and single storey.
