Theater actor - is the theater, which was set up in Moscow, the order of People's Commissars of the USSR in December 1943. He was supposed to serve as a laboratory in which were brought to film actors and directors, and the process has been staging performances by pre-production of films.

The theater is located in a building built in 1931-1935 gg. The authors of the project buildings were the architects Vesnin brothers. The building was used as a cultural center for political prisoners.

The first director of the theater actor was GV Alexandrov, and its artistic director - SI Yutkevich. The theater troupe consisted of collective actors of the studio "Mosfilm", which is under the direction of G. Roshal 1940 productions of small productions. In 1946, the play by Mikhail Svetlov "Brandenburg Gate" theater opened its first season. The director of the play was B. Babochkin.

In 1947 the play was staged "Young Guard" on the novel by Fadeyev. Director was directed by S. Gerasimov. This performance was the basis of the same movie, which entered the golden fund of Soviet cinema.

The theater actor staged plays many young, who later became well-known directors: E. Garin, A. Wild, MI Sudakov, Yutkevich S., R. Simonov, Goncharov and others. A number of films that can be called outstanding, was released after the preparation on the stage.

At various times, the troupe consisted of: M. Bernes, B. Andreev, B. Chirkov, E. Garin, G. Vitsin, N. Rybnikov, Gluzsky M., S. Bondarchuk, Nikolai Kryuchkov, M. Ladynina C. Martinson, P. Nifontova, Tikhonov, V. Sana G. Yumatov, I. Smoktunovskij, K. Lucko, Valentin Serov, AN Mordjukova and many others. Theater arts council consisted of the greatest Soviet filmmakers. It included Mikhail Romm and Gerasimov, Y. Reisman and I. Pyryev, Alexandrov and others.

Since 1992, the theater called "State theater actor." Since 2010, the chief director of the theater is Robert Manukyan. Theatre is heading to update the repertoire and preservation of the best traditions of the theater.
