Gothic Protestant church is the oldest building in the city of Miskolc. In the 13th century it was a small church in the Romanesque style, later expanded and took the form of a large Gothic church.

  In 1544, during the Turkish occupation of Hungary church burned. For her recovery required forest. However, the surrounding forests belonged to the Church of the Catholics, so the construction was delayed and started only twenty years later.

  The church organ wizard Angster Joseph appeared in the church in 1895. Thanks to the excellent acoustics of the building, there are often concerts of organ music.

  The church bell tower was built in 1557. Her bell until 1941 every 15 minutes playing a melody Westminster chimes. Because of the noise of the city ringing of bells is not always good to hear, but it is one of the most famous symbols of the city. The National Theatre of Miskolc borrowed the melody to alert viewers about the beginning of the performance.

  The church is surrounded by a cemetery where lie the famous sons of the city, among them prominent politicians and artists.
