Park Museum stones Uruchcha opened on the outskirts of Minsk in 1985. This is one of the most unusual museums in the world. Museum similar stones in Europe only in the territory of Lithuania.

In 1976, the Institute of Geochemistry and Geophysics BSSR decided to organize and describe all the boulders of Belarus. A person not familiar with the problems of geology, such an idea would have seemed absurd. The fact that the ice age on the territory of modern Belarus swept three huge glacier, leaving behind a centuries-old daughter in the form of boulders brought from other places.

In 1981 it was decided to create a museum of stones in Minsk. For its creation in Minsk in 2134 brought the boulder.

From the point of view of preserving the spiritual values of our pagan ancestors, the founders of the museum committed blasphemy, literally tearing the stones from their "roots." Pagans stones attached great importance. Often boulders became sacrificial altars, stones, indicating the path, a sacred place or danger enclosing ownership. The position of the boulder was as important as his own. But if you look at the museum of stones from the standpoint of Soviet reality, when officials atheists fought obscurantism and barbarously destroying everything that somehow is related to religions and beliefs, the museum staff made a feat, keeping the priceless heritage of ancestors for the future.

The museum exhibition is located in the open air on the territory of the floodplain once flowed the river here. Museum of stones covers about 7 hectares. For a long time there was a swamp and the city dump. The territory of the future museum drained, cleaned and symbolically divided into composites sector.

Large stones are arranged on both sides of the footpath leading to the meadows, decorated boulders. "Life-giving the province" - built of stones panorama of the Baltic Sea and the adjacent countries. Shown here are the largest deposits of stones.
