Museum of Jewish History and Culture of Belarus was founded in 2002 by a group of scientists headed by enthusiasts museum director Inna Pavlovna Gerasimova supported by the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee "Joint" in Belarus. The museum was opened in the building of the Minsk Jewish community center at street Khoruzhey 28.

Despite its youth, the museum managed to gather more than 10 thousand exhibits, telling about the culture, art, religion, history of Jews in Belarus. It contains unique documents, photographs, objects of everyday life, clothing, books, paintings and many other things. There are unique exhibits: the machine for making matza from Orsha, mug for washing hands, ticket, dated 1889 year, and allowing passage of the Pale of Settlement to the rest of the Russian Empire.

The museum not only collects and carefully preserves the history and culture of Belarusian Jews, but also conducts active outreach and education. Here come people of all ages and nationalities to learn more about the Jewish people. The museum has collected lists of the killed Jews during the Second World War Book of Remembrance created.

The permanent exposition of the museum are divided into sections: The Jews of Belarus XVI - beg. XX centuries .; Belarusian Jews between the wars. 1917 - June 1941; The Holocaust in Belarus. 1941 - 1944; Post-war Jewish life in Belarus; The revival of Jewish life in the late twentieth century.

During the existence of the museum was held more than 35 exhibitions, the theme of some of them: "I - out of the ghetto," "The Jewish resistance in Belarus. Of 1941-1944. "," Synagogues of Belarus yesterday and today. " The museum held an exhibition of paintings by Jewish artists.
