Central Children's Park of Culture and Rest named after Maxim Gorky in Minsk - one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in the capital of Belarus. Year It was founded in 1805.

He founded the city garden in Minsk Governor Zachary Y. Korneev. The garden was named governor. He originally planned to rest a decent audience. It was a big park of 18 hectares, which were broken flower beds, paved alleys and canals dug. The fact that it was a garden for the educated public, evidence found on one of the trees in Latin plaque that read: «Post laborem requies» - after work relaxation.

At the end of the XIX century, when it became fashionable to do sports, not only men but also progressive women were in the park, in the European manner, stadium, courts for lawn tennis, golf croquet, cycling track. By maintaining a healthy lifestyle in the townspeople, the park was forbidden to sell alcoholic beverages. In the 1970 year, there was a big fire, which resulted in burned cycling track and a summer cinema. In their place it was built indoor ice rink - the pride of Minsk, where the ice hockey and figure skating.
